Our Story
German roots, Florida sunshine, and a heart for hospitality.
From Germany to Florida
Our story begins in the German countryside, where fresh‑baked bread was a daily ritual, eggs came from the backyard, and every meal was prepared with care and shared with neighbors. Growing up surrounded by traditional recipes, seasonal cooking, and a deep respect for the land, we always dreamed of bringing that way of life to others.
Located along the peaceful shores of Lake Weir in Weirsdale, Florida, Lake Ranch became the perfect place to plant new roots while honoring the traditions that have always felt like home.

Building Lake Ranch
Since 2012, we've been building Lake Ranch into a small but thriving working property. Our chickens, ducks, and geese provide the freshest eggs you'll find in Central Florida. Our vegetable garden produces seasonal greens, herbs, and vegetables.
We mill our own grains — wheat, rye, and spelt — to bake hearty, rustic breads the way our grandparents did. Every loaf, every cake, every batch of Spätzle is made by hand in small batches with real ingredients and real care.
It's not about scale. It's about doing things right, doing them with love, and sharing the results with people who appreciate honest, good food.
Hospitality as a Way of Life
Hebrews 13:2 reminds us: "Do not neglect hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." This isn't just a verse on our wall — it's the way we try to live every single day.
Saturday mornings are our favorite time of the week. The ranch fills with the aroma of fresh coffee and warm bread, neighbors catch up over eggs and Spätzle, and new visitors quickly feel like old friends. There's no rush, no pretense — just good food, good company, and a shared appreciation for the simple things.
Whether you've been visiting for years or you're discovering us for the first time, you're always welcome at our table.
